Position Summary
The Community Engagement Specialist leads volunteer recruitment, scheduling, communication, and engagement for all Healthy West Orange programs and events. As part of the Community Impact team, this position ensures volunteers are supported, prepared, and empowered. This position supports on-the-ground activation of the Healthy West Orange movement through community events, outreach activities, and public-facing engagement. The role also assists with logistics and supports HUBB outreach events as needed.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Build, inspire, and manage Healthy West Orange’s volunteer community.
- Assist with execution of Signature Events and outreach programs.
- Collaborate closely to identify and capitalize on synergies across Foundation teams and functions.
- Support physical activation and engagement for the Join the Movement campaign through program and event logistics, signage, tabling, and material distribution.
- Lead and evolve volunteer recruitment and engagement through structured, data-informed continuous improvement.
- Ensure volunteers feel informed, valued, and clear on their role before, during, and after engagement.
- Ensure readiness for events and outreach aligning people, materials, logistics, and execution.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
- This role requires demonstrated schedule flexibility, including availability for early mornings, evenings, and weekend events throughout the year. While not required daily, seasonal peaks and key initiatives may necessitate extended or non-traditional hours to support organizational priorities and community engagement activities.
- Due to the event-driven and community-facing nature of this position, the successful candidate must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time and safely lift, carry, and move materials and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds.

Experience
Relevant experience may come from nonprofit, community organizations, events, hospitality, education, or related environments.
Education
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
